Children In Need raised record-breaking £32,620,469 during Friday’s appeal show. S Club 7 played an important part by the buzz and excitement they caused. Great news!
Children in Need 2014 has topped last year’s fundraising efforts with a whopping total of £32,620,469.
The annual telethon held another record-breaking night of fun for a good cause on Friday night and beat last year’s sum of just over £31 million.
The money raised each year is used to help disadvantaged children and young people all across the UK, and some huge stars were on hand to help encourage the nation to donate.
Performances from the likes of Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Boyzone and even the cast of EastEnders were aired as part of the live event, which opened with the Albert Square cast paying tribute to classic musical Grease.
However, even with One Direction there, it was ’90s pop group S Club 7 who stole the show as they reunited for a medley of their biggest hits.
Nineties kids all over the country were undoubtedly dancing round their rooms as the memories came flooding back as the band performed Bring It All Back, S Club Party and Don’t Stop Movin’ for the first time since their split in 2003.
Speaking about their reunion, Rachel told host Terry Wogan: “It’s been amazing to all get back together, it’s been so much fun, to get together for something like this is amazing.”
